Mersin Commodity Exchange Türkiye signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australian Turkish Chamber of Commerce
This agreement underscores a shared commitment to strengthening trade and investment opportunities between Australia and Türkiye.
The MOU was signed at the residence of the Melbourne consul general of the republic of Türkiye by Abdullah Ozdemir, Chairman of the Mersin Chamber of Industry, together with Attila Ceylanbas, Chairman and Bekir Kilic, MAICD, Co-founder and Board Director of the Australian Turkish Chamber of Commerce.
The signing was also attended by His Excellency, Ufuk Gezer, the Turkish Ambassador to Australia, Mr Doğan Isik, Turkish Consul General Melbourne, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Natalie Suleyman MP Government of Victoria, Hazal Oğuz Sarıkaya Commercial Attaché and other distinguished guests.
Mersin International Port (MIP) is the largest multi-purpose port in Türkiye and serves as a critical logistics and trade gateway. The port supports both national and international trade, connecting Türkiye with the Far East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, and serving as a vital transit hub for destinations like the CIS countries, Iraq, and Northern Cyprus. Adjacent to the port is Turkey’s first Free Zone.
The region is a leading exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially tomatoes, tangerines, and peppers. Mersin sits on the eastern Mediterranean coast of Türkiye, directly facing the Levant (Middle East).
Under the agreement, both chambers will work collaboratively to explore and advance practical opportunities that foster stronger commercial ties.
